One missed calibration. Your shop’s name on it.
Cameras, radar and sensors sit behind almost every bumper and windshield you touch. When a calibration is skipped, done wrong, or can’t be proven, the liability lands on your shop.
of 2023-and-newer models need an ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement, up from 25% of 2016 models.1

in equipment just to start calibrating in-house, before space, training, software and OEM updates.3
The parking-lot problem with mobile calibration
OEM procedures don’t just say “calibrate”. They specify the conditions it must be done in. A customer’s lot, a busy shop floor or the back of a van rarely meets all of them:
- Level floor within tight tolerances (GM allows about 7 mm; Honda under 1°)
- Even, controlled lighting with no glare or reflections
- Clear, measured target space with nothing in the way
- Wheel alignment verified first, as most OEMs require
“Calibration complete” only means the routine ran, not that the targets were in the right place. A sensor aimed slightly off can watch the wrong lane, or the wrong car.
If it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen
When something goes wrong, the first question is what was done and how you can prove it. No pre-scan, no post-scan, no calibration report and no OEM procedure on file means no defense. Every Level5Drive job puts all of it in your file:
- Pre- and post-repair scans
- The OEM procedure we followed
- A full calibration report
- Setup conditions recorded
